Almendres Menhir

Menir dos Almendres, Évora - Portugal

Wikipedia says a Menhir is “a large upright standing stone. Menhirs may be found singly as monoliths, or as part of a group of similar stones”.
This one is dated from 5000-4000 BC. It stands alone, it’s 4 meters high and has some faint markings at the top. Legend says it’s the tomb of a Moorish princess, and that we can see her combing her hair once a year, on São João’s eve. It was a good trip, except for the big mosquitos there. I strongly advise you take a good insect repellent!
